Big League
Late post today. We were out too late last night.
Despite not being able to attend the Snow Cross at Cypress – the standing room was deemed unsafe by the organizers – we had a great time at the Globe Ladies Night at the Molson Hockey House. The special guests of honour were the Canadian Women’s hockey team who got a huge round of applause when they arrived in the buildiing.
We were there as guests of the Globe and Mail so we had the privilege of meeting the publisher and editor of the paper, as well as a number of reporters. We were also in the VIP section, something I am not used to, which meant many great Canadians passed by our table – Sean Cullen, Tyler Stewart and Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies, Susie McNeil, Donald Sutherland, Tom Cochrane (who also performed) and others I am sure I am forgetting.
As an added bonus, as we were leaving, we discovered that Serena Ryder was playing next door at the Ontario Pavilion, so we got to hear the last half hour of her performance. A great night to be a Canadian.
Today, we are heading back down to the Hockey House to watch the Canada Hockey game and then we have tickets for the Russia-Latvia hockey game that follows.
Don’t forget – you can see more of my photos on my flickr page.
