We live down there

We live down there

Drove down to the airport at 4:30 yesterday morning only to fly back over our house around 9:30.  Why they couldn’t land the 777 at the Billy Bishop to pick us up is beyond me.

Despite the early start, It was a fairly smooth trip, except for two stupid moves on my part.  On arriving at the terminal in the Park ‘n Fly van, I realized I left the folder with all of our info in the car.  Thankfully, the driver was nice enough to take us right back.  And when we took the skytrain from the Vancouver airport to the hotel, I only managed to get one bag and one arm inside the car before the door closed trapping my other arm.  Rather than letting go of my bag, I simply held on until a nice guy jumped up and helped me pry the doors open.  No harm done.

We are now settled into our hotel, which is quite nice.  It is right next door to the skytrain which takes about 30 minutes to get into downtown Vancouver.  Found out tonight that the hotel is occupied by Globe staff and the families of Canada’s female Olympic hockey team.  Should be a good party if they win the gold – a game we get to attend.

People I know/recognize spotted on our plane ride:  Greg Keelor from Blue Rodeo, Darren Dreger from TSN, my University roommate, Bruno, who I had not seen in 15 years, Alan (can’t remember his last name) who I met at Sue and Mark’s wedding, a number of Canadian athletes, and I guess Bedouin Soundclash was also on board because I saw their equipment on the carousel.

Peace.
